About Riders for Health

Across Africa, more than 60% of the population live in rural communities many miles from health centres with no means of transport other than walking, donkey cart or wheelbarrow.

People across Africa can’t take access to basic health services for granted. Without a way to reach health centres, vital care such as immunisation for babies, diagnosis and treatment of disease and care for pregnant women and the elderly is out of reach. Founded over 30 years ago and currently working in The Gambia, Nigeria, Lesotho and Malawi, Riders for Health ensure health professionals can reach communities with reliable transport.

Riders source the most appropriate vehicles and providing offer rider training, fuel and maintenance services to ensure the vehicles run safely and efficiently day in-day out. With motorcycles provided by Riders for Health, doctors, nurses and other health workers can visit 6 times more people than on foot and double the amount of time they spend in each village they visit!
